( that's true, isn't it? vash has spent the last century and a half so far removed from anything like physical affection, any kind of affection that it stands to reason that he'd been more than just a little bit shocked when it had been reciprocated. even if it had only been a fraction of what they both wanted, whether they were willing to admit it to themselves or not. then, or now.

to say he's touch-starved would be putting it about as mildly as any such thing could feasibly be put, but being able to have nick like this — for as long as he's allowed to have him — in the small hours of the morning when it's just the two of them locked inside their opalescent bubble, it's like the rest of the world can't touch them.

the fact that the swell of his ass fits perfectly in the palm of nick's hand is, quite possibly, a testament to the notion that sometimes a handful is all you need and he hums out a pleased noise at the attention, content to comb his fingers through the mess of his hair and press an achingly soft kiss to his hairline. )
